Tel Aviv Port was founded by a public shareholder company named The Marine Trust Ltd., in 1936. The Marine Trust Ltd. has continued to manage the port since its establishment, and in recent years is responsible for the port restoration and development process, during which the port was redesigned, and turned from a historic site into a an entertainment & leisure center and meeting place
As part of the restoration and development process, the Marine Trust renovated historic port structures, and developed its public areas (boardwalk and pier) for the benefit of the general public. Throughout the year, these areas serve as the setting for various events enjoyed by visitors to the port. Marine Trust company has 12 employees, and it manages the assets in the port, and is responsible for port maintenance as well as for the varied activities held at the port throughout the year.
In 2001, public figures convened for a series of meetings aimed at formulating a vision for the port’s future. Since then, Marine Trust has been acting in the spirit of this vision, whose tenets are: preserving the unique nature of the port and its authentic characteristics.
